about us
Our History
In 2007, PAX Assist, Inc. was founded in New York as a specialized ” Wheelchair service ” service company, dedicated to enhancing the travel experience for passengers requiring mobility assistance. From its inception, PAX Assist focused on technology-driven innovations to improve service quality while optimizing cost efficiencies for its airline partners. Within two years of launching operations, by March 2009, PAX Assist had successfully secured 70% of the airline clientele at JFK International Airport’s Terminal Four.
Following continued success and multiple technology deployments, PAX Assist was awarded the Terminal Four exclusive contract in April 2013, becoming the sole provider of transport chair services for all International Air Terminal (IAT) airlines. Building on this momentum, in July 2017, PAX Assist successfully bid for and won the transport chair services contract for Delta Air Lines at JFK’s Terminal 2. Due to outstanding performance, they were subsequently awarded the full JFK Delta system-wide transport chair contract in November 2017.
In 2012, recognizing ongoing challenges associated with traditional metallic wheelchairs—such as inefficiencies at security checkpoints, hygiene issues, and costly maintenance—PAX Assist’s leadership initiated the development of a revolutionary solution: Jetweels. This new concept aimed to create a lightweight, non-metallic, TSA-compliant transport chair specifically designed to meet the unique demands of airport operations.
Drawing on extensive operational expertise gained from assisting millions of passengers with disabilities, PAX Assist successfully introduced Jetweels as an innovative solution to improve safety, efficiency, and user experience in air travel.
